This very popular Swiss cheese takes its name from the picturesque village of Gruyere near Friborg and is only produced in summer, from mid-May to around mid-October. Cows eat a variety of lush grasses in the mountain pastures, and the rich taste of cheese is due to the mellowness of milk. This product is protected by AOP and pressed with cloth only.
It is a must-have ingredient for cheese fondue. It can also be crushed and served on pizza, pasta, salads, or vegetables, or it can be added to sauces and enjoyed with walnut and fruity bread.
